In the deepest ocean, in the darkness and under huge pressure, you might think life is scarce. But you'd be wrong. The deep sea is one of the least explored areas on the planet, yet many strange and wonderful creatures live in this extreme environment.
We are delighted to have the British Museum joining the Janet Content Providers in the new year. Their first session will be on Thursday 9th January 2014. It is entitled Treasure challenge video conference. There are two sessions, from 10:30-12pm and from 12:30 to 2pm. Advanced bookings are now being taken for this exciting event, which is designed for Key Stage 2 students. The students work through the real challenges faced by archeologists, scientists and museum staff.
Oxford Schools can continue to use Janet videoconferencing by registering to use the South East Grid for Learning (SEGfL) gatekeeper services. The attached document contains instructions for use of the SEGfL gatekeeper, by sites that are not connected on the SEGfL network.

During the most recent UK VC Partnerships meeting the issue of Broadband advice for schools was raised, and that Janet should present some clear guidelines to help the schools community when deciding on Broadband providers.
Those present gave their ideas, and we came up with the following:
Lord Puttnam, the NHS, Oaks Park High School and Sheffield Hallam University spoke at the Bett Show 2013 about their use of videoconferencing. Janet VC services linked Mina Patel's Videoconferencing for Learning (VCfL) to the Excel Centre.
