In the deepest ocean, in the darkness and under huge pressure, you might think life is scarce. But you'd be wrong. The deep sea is one of the least explored areas on the planet, yet many strange and wonderful creatures live in this extreme environment.
We are delighted to have the British Museum joining the Janet Content Providers in the new year. Their first session will be on Thursday 9th January 2014. It is entitled Treasure challenge video conference. There are two sessions, from 10:30-12pm and from 12:30 to 2pm. Advanced bookings are now being taken for this exciting event, which is designed for Key Stage 2 students. The students work through the real challenges faced by archeologists, scientists and museum staff.
-----------------Reminder about free sessions at Virtually University--------------------------------
We still have some spaces on the 2 videoconferences happening prior to half term. We would love to involve you if you have students you feel would benefit from the experience.

Aimed at Key Stage 1 and 2, these weather-based interactive videoconferencing sessions are run by Paul Gross at Metlearn. Paul is an experienced meteorologist, who has previously worked as the Education Services Manager for the Met Office. Metlearn is the newest organisation to become a registered content provider with the Janet Videoconferencing service.
Through the use of videoconferencing, Virtually University, a Janet Content Provider, has helped Shrewsbury Sixth Form students to aim higher. Students have been able to participate in lectures that might not otherwise have been posible.

On Wednesday 6th March at 2pm Natalie Paul, a PhD student from The University of Sheffield, will present 'The Chemistry of Colour':
Natalie's aim is to discuss aspects of the AS and A2 syllabus and then to illustrate how these evolve and converge during university level study in an exploration of colour. This will deepen students understanding of their current studies and provide an insight into what studying Chemistry at university is like.
If you have a group of students you would like to participate in this session please contact Rob Cullis at Virtually University:
