Multipoint Control Units (MCUs) Centralised MCUs are capable of providing Standard Definition (SD) and High Definition (HD) IP based videoconferences. JANET(UK) currently operates 2 Polycom MGC-100TM MCUs and 3 Codian MSE 8000 chassis with SD and HD MCU blades. The equipment is used for both point-to-point and multipoint videoconferences to facilitate IP to IP, IP to ISDN and ISDN to ISDN conferences.

This is a complete gatekeeper.ini file for an organisation wishing to connect to the JVCS-IP or a similar H.323 network. The file can be copied and pasted, edited, then saved in the openh323gk\bin folder. Comments can be added by preceding them with a # character for each line of comment. Where a value has ‘x’s substitute your own local details.

The following configuration is for a session that sets up a Cisco® router as a gatekeeper and H.323 proxy. It is minimally commented, so for further explanation please refer to the Cisco® information in Cisco Multimedia Conference Manager. In this example, a single physical port has been used between the endpoint and the college’s site access router. The commands would have to be altered slightly in a different topology.
