An Occasionally Asked Question (an OAQ?) is "are IP addresses personal data?". That question is probably too broad to ever get a simple answer, but a recent decision by the Irish High Court  (EMI Records & Others v Eircom Ltd [2010] IEHC 108) has at least answered the related question "are logs indexed by IP address always personal data?".

The House of Lords has now published its report on the EC Communication on Protecting Europe Against Large Scale Cyber-Attacks.

An interesting comment in the Guardian today suggests that the Government may be reviewing the current definition of interception law that makes a significant legal distinction between read and unread messages.

On Tuesday I was invited with Chris Gibson of FIRST to give evidence to the Home Affairs Sub-Committee of the European Affairs Committee of the House of Lords. They are currently looking at the European Commission's proposals to protect Europe from large-scale Cyberattacks.
