File Sync and Share

Please be aware that this service ended on 10 July 2016 and is now closed to new purchases. Any agreements that were set up under the framework prior to the expiry date, will continue until their agreed end date.

We’re currently gathering requirements for a replacement service that reflects users’ changing requirements: Secure File Sync & Collaboration service

It would be really helpful if you could let us know what aspects of the previous File Sync & Share service were unappealing and may have stopped you from using the service. Any type of feedback about the previous service would help to inform the procurement of the new service.

Many thanks,

Phyllis Callinan email: cloud@jisc.ac.uk

Following the EU Court decision on Safe Harbour earlier this week, whereby EU-US data transfers are 'invalid' if made under the 'safe harbour' regime, our solicitor has advised that where a cloud arrangement includes the Model Clauses, then the ruling should have limited immediate impact.

The file sync and share service provides a dynamic purchasing system (DPS) framework allowing a number of suppliers to offer cloud based data storage services which include the ability to share files by the exchange of hyperlinks and for data owners to synchronise files across multiple devices so as to have their data available anywhere at any time.

The service requirement was divided into four lots.

Dear Jigisha,

Good news to see to another supplier on board in the form of Q Associates. Is there likely to be anymore in the future? Particularly those that offer encryption before going off to the cloud like Wuala?
