Event

eduroam (education roaming) is the secure, world-wide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community. eduroam provides an infrastructure that allows users to authenticate onto a visited network (wireless and/or wired) using their home site credentials, without any local administrative burden or complexities on the user or the local IT staff.

This course provides and overview of the service, its configuration & deployment and overall monitoring & troubleshooting of the service.

Event

eduroamUK provides eduroam in the UK and enables network logon anywhere using own username and password regardless of location without the need for guest account set up. The service is available at participating organisations over wi-fi and (depending on the site) at dedicated wired ethernet and/or designated guest workstations.

Event
The main objective of this course is to provide delegates with a basic understanding of computer network technologies and concepts. It will begin with an overview of different network types and how these fit together within Janet. It then moves on to consider different network models and how they can be applied. The course will then look at some of the physical aspects of networks and the protocols that make it all work. Finally after a review of basic network applications, delegates will be lead through a very practical review of some of the key issues associated with campus networking.
Event
Routers play a major role in any network and their effective configuration is vital in ensuring they run efficiently. The objective of this course is to provide a basic understanding of the configuration of network devices. Starting with the basics, this course will provide an overview of network devices and components. Delegates will have an opportunity to get hands-on experience in logging on to equipment and using configuration files. The course will look at the configuration of DHCP, NAT and PAT. Delegates will then work through some solutions to network security issues.
Event

This technical course is aimed at anyone considering implementing IPv6 on their campus who wishes to understand some of the theory and implications. The course assumes a basic knowledge of networking theory such as is covered on the Janet Training's Basic Networking course.
