Following stringent procurements, contracts have now been signed with two providers for the Janet6 infrastructure.
SSE Telecoms have been selected to provide the fibre for the infrastructure with Ciena chosen as supplier of the network equipment.

I and over 95 members of the Janet community went on-line yesterday to participate in the second of our online briefings on the progress of the Janet6 project. Jeremy Sharp, Head of Strategic Technologies described how Janet6 has come successfully through the requirements gathering and procurement phases and is now in the roll-out phase.

On 28 March 2013, we reached a very significant milestone in the delivery of Janet6 which was the final formal acceptance. from SSET, of the Janet6 Core fibre and the fibre instrastructure to the regional network entry points.

It's been a while since my last Janet6 blog update, and quite a bit has happened:
- We've accepted delivery of the fully commissioned optical network from Ciena.
- We've completed commissioning of the IP network.
- We've interconnected SuperJANET5 and Janet6.
- We've done a ton of various other cabling and configuring.
- We've started migrating regional networks over to Janet6.
