Mike Wroughton
Network Architect
I am an IT guy through and through. I wouldnt necessarily say a geek, but I do love technology and thoroughly enjoy my job working with networks and servers.
My father was in the armed forces and so I grew up in Germany and England surrounded by the military. I should perhaps have joined up with the forces but from an early age was taken in by technology. Growing up, I had a Tandy TRS 80, a Commodore 64, and many Amiga's I sometimes feel nostalgic for those days, but tech has grown and evolved so much in the last 20 years...
I have been working in the IT industry for most of my adult life. I started in a warehouse issuing spare parts for servers to field engineers, but very quickly moved on to a helpdesk role, than became a field engineer myself. Since then, I have moved up through 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line roles to technical consultancy, pre-sales, and now am the Network and Server Architect/Administrator for New College Stamford.
Over the last 18 months, we have deployed a whole new server infrastructure based on VMWare VSphere 5, and are working to replace/upgrade our Aruba wireless network and HP Procurve LAN, so busy times ahead!
