Customers in the London region having a new connection as part of the procurement should now have received an automated e-mail prompt detailing a Target Service Date. This date represents the date when the connection is expected to be available for you to use and is based on the Target Delivery Date that the supplier has provided us, plus an additional month for Janet to complete the migration process.
The Janet Netsight Service (http://netsight.ja.net/Public/HomePage.aspx) is a network traffic monitoring system that provides an easy to understand view of the status and performance of the Janet network including customer access links.
To access Netsight you will need a username and password.
Janet will shortly start the process of procuring a new contract for Janet connectivity for customers in the London region. This will replace the current Janet London service that is set to end on 29 March 2014. This exercise takes on board customer comments received from recent site visits, the results of the survey monkey run in January and draws on feedback from the requirements gathering workshop held in February.
Janet6 is the project that will deliver the next generation of the Janet infrastructure and the footprint of the Janet6 network ensures that we can provide coverage across the whole UK.
The procurement for managed circuits for the London region was officially published on 21st June 2013. This was issued just three days later than previously advertised. However, the remainder of the procurement timetable is unchanged and is shown below for information:

The Janet London infrastructure procurement process is nearing completion and the contract has been awarded to Virgin Media Business. As this is a change from the current provider, there will be a programme of delivery and then migration to the new infrastructure.
We are in the process of writing to all customers in the region regarding their individual connections but, in order to keep you informed of the next steps and give you an opportunity to ask questions, we are running an event on 4 November 2013 at University of London, Senate House, Malet Street, London.

The London 2012 Olympic Games will be showcasing the use of new technology in practice, marking the first truly digital Games in the UK. From 23 July to 12 August Janet will be enabling the BBC and NHK to use the Janet network to broadcast key moments of the Games in Super Hi-Vision at various locations the UK, and around the world.
The Janet6 dynamic map shows the areas of the core network and the regions light up as each one is migrated. The London core PoP has already been lit, London region to follow soon.
