Eligibility

All Janet customers are eligible for the service; however it is aimed primarily at FE bodies and may not be suitable for all HEIs. The routers provided can support bandwidths of up to 10Gbit/s and router configuration changes provided by the service are limited to 5 per year. HEIs should look at their requirements carefully before opting for the MRS to ensure it is suitable.

If a customer has two (or more) connections to Janet and wants to join the MRS, Janet will review the connections to determine the MRS options available i.e. if all of the connections must be on the MRS or whether it is suitable to have one connection on MRS and another not. On occasion all customer connections will need to be included on the MRS. This is to ensure that both routers are within the same management domain and is necessary when complex BGP configuration is required.
