Barclays Sponsored Degree Programme (BDP)

19 September 2013 at 2:24pm

Virtually University is delighted to work with Barclays again this year to introduce Year 13 students to the award winning Barclays Sponsored Degree Programme (BDP). Interactive videoconferences taking place on 10th and 11th October will be ideal for students considering alternative routes to a Business degree and are open to all schools and colleges.
About BDP - Barclays describes the Opportunity:

Offering both a fast track into leadership and a sponsored degree, this is a great way into our business. The programme has been developed in partnership with the Lord Ashcroft International Business School at Anglia Ruskin University and Nottingham Business School at Nottingham Trent University. You’ll learn, earn, and get a degree – all in just three years. And you’ll gain everything you need to become a leader in Barclays.

You’ll gain a university education without incurring debt. You’ll take on structured work placements in various roles that will provide you with skills, experience and insight. With the support of your tutors, an academic mentor, your various managers and your assigned buddy, you’ll have every opportunity to achieve your full potential. This is in addition to a salary and generous benefits.

We don’t look for the finished article – we’re interested in potential. The people who do the best on this programme can lead and challenge. They’re bold in their approach, and they collaborate to achieve the best possible results for their teams and our customers.

Barclays is really keen to connect with Year 13 students from all backgrounds and geographical locations who demonstrate the academic potential but also the personality and drive to embark on a successful career in this dynamic environment. Applicants to the programme must be predicted at least 240 UCAS points* (from 3 A Levels or equivalent i.e. BTEC) and with 5 GCSE’s grade A – C, including Maths and English.

Please also be aware that relevant school alumni, perhaps taking a year out, will be very welcome.

The sessions are timed to coincide with the BDP application window for their September 2014 intake:

Thursday 10th October

  • Session 1: 11.20pm - 12.20pm
  • Session 2: 2.00pm - 3.00pm

Friday 11th October

  • Session 3: 11.20pm - 12.20pm
  • Session 4: 2.00pm - 3.00pm

Please let me know if you have a group of students who would like to attend indicating which of the sessions is best for you and, dependent on available space, I will book a place for you. There may be the possibility of adding a third session to each day if need be.

* The Nottingham Business School option requires 320 UCAS points and applications are made through UCAS rather than through Barclays
