Meeting on 12th May 2005
There were 50 attendees to a lively NHS-HE Forum meeting on 12th May 2005 at UCL.
The NHS-HE Forum work on Content Issues was for many years led by Paul Ayris, Director of Library Services and UCL Copyright Officer. Although still with his oversight, in more recent years the main role has been with Betsy Anagnostelis, Librarian at the Royal Free Hospital Medical Library and Joint Biomedical Team Leader, UCL Library Services. Collaboration between Universities and the NHS is fundamental to all aspects of clinical education and research. There are however recent initiatives to develop this further:

3 – How the NHS & HE can network securely
This stream is about securely connecting NHS and Higher Education institutions locally in recognition that models for this do exist and this may be a preferred route than national infrastructure being developed nationally. This is typically the case with the large teaching hospitals and their links to their partner Universities. It covers fixed connections but also what has become clear is the fast pace of innovation with sharing wireless networks.

NHS-HE Connectivity Best Practice Working Group Outputs:
1 - Access Directly from NHS desktops (***new resource added May 2013***)
The NHS-Higher Education Connectivity Project aims to:
Co-ordinate and support network connectivity between the NHS and Universities involved with education and research in medicine, nursing and professions allied to medicine.
And it has as its objective:
To achieve good inter-operability between NHS and Higher Education (HE) networks that enable secure anytime, anywhere access by medical, nursing and allied profession students, clinical teachers and researchers
