This was the final published programme for the Information Governance Toolkit (IGT) Workshop that took on Friday 8th March 2013 at the University of Leeds. Unfortunately James Wood became ill on the day before and was unable to attend to give his keynote presentation. The workshop attendees were very grateful to Richard Corbridge for stepping in to the breach so admirably at an hour's notice.

The Information Governance arragements for the NHS adopt the same principles but are slightly different in approach between the NHS in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

This Information Governance Toolkit (IGT) workshop took place on Friday the 8th March 2013 at the University of Leeds. It discussed the challenge to University Research or Education Groups, and potentially wider groupings such as Medical Faculties, of achieving the Information Governance Toolkit e.g to support s251 data requests or for access to NHS systems on N3. I am grateful to Richard Corbridge at the NIHR Clinical Research Network Coordinating Centre for hosting this in Leeds and for Jessica Thomas for all the help in organising it.

Brian Gilmore, the Chair of the Scotland NHS-HE Forum, presented a discussion piece having looked at the Department of Health's Information Governance Toolkit (IGT) from a whole University perspective. Included is a plea for better defined and shared use cases.

Colin is the lead for the Information Governance for connecting to N3 in Scotland. He notes that the rules are essentially the same in Scotland as in England but they use a Manual of Information Security/NHS Scotland Information Security Policy with direct review rather than the policies covered by the online Information Statement of Compliance including the Information Governance Toolkit process as in England.
