The NHS-HE Forum was set up in 2001 for IT and networking managers from both the NHS and Higher Education, with an interest in achieving two-way communication between NHSNet (now replaced by N3) and Janet. It is an informal group that relies on the influence, ideas and action of its individual members to make a difference.

The Janet networking event in Scotland. This event, now in its third year, now incorporates the Janet Scotland Technical Briefing allowing delegates to learn about both strategic and technical developments taking place in the Janet community and the Jisc landscape.
This event is aimed at HEI and FEC – IT Directors, IT Managers, Security Specialists and Network Managers.
The aim of this event is to:
- Brief customers on the transition of network operations from YHMAN to Janet – eg. pre and post transition, fault reporting, Customer Engagement, etc
- Provide information to customers on key services available from Janet and YHMAN in the region.
The event is aimed at:
- FE - IT Managers/Directors, Network Managers, Technicians, etc
- HE – Assistant Directors of IT, Head of Infrastructure, Network Managers, Service Delivery Managers, etc
- LA and other interested Janet customers
This is the usual annual Scotland version of the NHS-HE Forum which has run as an additional, separate event since 2006 to particularly focus on the NHS-HE connectivity and shared content challenges in Scotland.
It last met in October 2012 and has been waiting on news on the Scotland Wide Area Network (SWAN) procurement which is set to replace N3 as the NHS network in Scotland. Ron MacDonald, Head of National Infrastructure Services at NHS National Services Scotland has agreed to be the key note speaker.
