Janet is working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Arcus Global to provide an Access Portal to AWS services for the Janet community.
We are starting to look for additional institutions to join the Portal service. If you would like to joing the pilot, please ask them to nominate an individual to act as your Portal Administrator, by way of email to cloud@ja.net by 21st May 2014.
To make the portal set up work an institution needs to nominate a Portal Administrator, who would typically be a system admin person from an IT group. The administrator will control an authorisation process for new users (similar to new staff being allowed access to resources) and can set up user accounts for those users who can then access all the AWS services and have them billed to their institution, in a single, itemised bill delivered to the Administrator.
The Portal provides a set of additional features aimed at the Institutions to help them manage the AWS spend and users, provide accurate reporting and enhance access controls. The portal does not cost anything to use, and provides multiple benefits.
