New version of LOLA now available (Jan 2014)

30 July 2014 at 3:55pm

A new version of LOLA has just been released, which I’m sure will be of interest to you all. The most significant thing is that they have been working on reducing the bandwidth needed to run LOLA. The new version - LOLA v1.3.0 has the following new features:

- new video rendering features:

 - free stretch/zoom with fixed aspect ratio;

 - remote video window can be duplicated and zoomed differently;

 - new pixel interpolation techniques to render zoom in better quality;

- some preconfigured basic layouts for video windows;

- new "video loss" tolerance parameter, which allows to render video frames also when there are some data losses along the path;

- enhanced audio/video/data monitoring parameters in Network Monitor panel;

- new "send my network monitor data to remote site" feature for easier configuraiton/debugging;

- embedded 689.06 Hs - 3dB test audio tone generation directly from the user interface.

- new embedded text chat service between LOLA nodes, available also when they are not yet connected via Audio/Video.

- support for jpeg compression on CPU-SIMD to significantly reduce bandiwidth (down to 20Mbps) where bandwidth is a serious problem.

- various bug fixes.

More information can be found on the LOLA website, including a documentation on the new version - http://www.conts.it/artistica/lola-project/documents
