Janet London Circuit Re-Procurement

Janet will shortly start the process of procuring a new contract for Janet connectivity for customers in the London region.  This will replace the current Janet London service that is set to end on 29 March 2014. This exercise takes on board customer comments received from recent site visits, the results of the survey monkey run in January and draws on feedback from the requirements gathering workshop held in February.

We will be using the Public Sector Network Telecommunications Framework (PSN) to undertake this procurement and there is good reason to believe that there will be savings on the current annual rental costs for many of the connections in London.

Prior to running the formal procurement Janet are engaging with potential suppliers with a view to exploring possible technical and commercial solutions to inform an Operational Requirements (OR) document, allowing suitable solutions to be tendered. With that activity in mind please find below the timetable for the procurement.

The Statement of Requirements will include a request for pricing for direct replacement of each institutions current Janet connectivity and will also include options for upgrades to the next logical bandwidth for comparison. We will contact each customer again formally to discuss the options before we sign the contract with the supplier. Once the orders have been placed we will make contact with each customer with regards to the completion of some essential paperwork needed to process delivery of circuits.

We are able to extend the existing C&W contracts on a per-site basis for up to six months (i.e. 30/09/14) so there will be plenty of time for migration, although it is desirable to move to the new connections as soon as possible. This element will be discussed in detail with you closer to the time.
