The Project Management view
The rollout of Janet6 is now well and truly in full swing. The job of a Project Manager is generally one of coordination, and with a project this size there’s plenty to coordinate! Whilst our suppliers are busy working on delivery of their components of the network, there’s plenty of other things to keep us busy. This week has seen a significant amount of effort going into things such as confirming rack locations and layouts, coordinating PoP inductions, liaising with our (very helpful) set of RNEP host Universities, and placing orders for an endless amount of what are being described as ‘sundries’ but could easily be used to build a network on their own! The high level view is that we’re still very much ‘on track’ to deliver the network on time, and the 500+ line project plan details how, so as the week winds down and the inbox regains some resemblance of order we look forward to what next week will bring.
