Unscheduled service outage Friday 26/10/2012 1:02 AM - 9:48 AM
Sorry to report there was an unscheduled national proxy service outage on Friday 26/10/2012 between 1:02 AM until 9:48. All three NRPS were affected. This meant that no inter-organisation or UK-international roaming would have been possible. Intra-organisation eduroam authentication of course was not affected.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused, hopefully this was minimal since most of the outage was outside working hours. The problem has been traced to a blank NRPS configuration refresh originating from the Support server caused by disk partition space shortage. This has been rectified and we will be introducing measures to prevent any null config refresh being sent to the NRPS in future - further improving the robustness of the NRPSs.
This was a regrettable incident, following as it does the major performance improvement we achieved during the summer on roaming1.
