Frequently Asked Questions

Q1 Why are you doing this?
A1 ISDN usage has steadily decreased to the extent that the cost to maintain the ISDN capability now far outweighs the benefit. To keep Vscene sustainable, Jisc has decided to remove bridging support within it from 1st August 2016.

Q2 Does this stop me dialling into conferences using a telephone?
A2 No this does not, you can continue to dial in to conferences via telephone. This change does not affect the telephone dial in facility.

Q3 How can I use ISDN after August?
A3 Customers who wish to continue using ISDN after this time can choose to purchase ISDN bridging from their own supplier, or alternatively use our browser based solution for conferences beyond this date.

Q4 Which supplier can I use?
A4 Jisc has no preferred suppliers, three possible suppliers are suggested below.
