What is SSL?
SSL is basically used for conducting secure transactions over the Internet. Needless to say, there are plenty of activities on the Internet that involve data that needs to be protected or secured. SSL (Secure Socket Layer) is a protocol that encrypts data before being transmitted to another server. So, if the data is captured by a third party it won’t be usable. The use of SSL Certificates helps prevent Identity theft, use of the third party accounts for malicious activities without the owner’s permission etc.

One of the prime advantages of using SSL certificates is that it legitimizes your site so that your customers can trust it for conducting secure transactions. Customers are often wary of using sites devoid of the SSL Certificate and might choose to go with competitor sites which provide adequate security.
