Comments

It was certainly a very useful session as always. Following on from James Hall's presentation on a new Information Security forum, we would like to invite you to let James Hall know your contact details if you are interested:

Both the UCISA Network and Infrastructure groups have a remit encompassing Information Security; both groups have been recently working with a colleague James Hall (Head of IT Security at the Open University) and James Davies (Janet CSIRT) to propose a face to face meeting for HE/FE/Research Security leaders.

There already exists a wealth of resources in the community for email discussion as well as the annual Janet CSIRT seminar and BoF sessions at the Janet Networkshop conference; however face to face meets currently occur only in regional based pockets.

The purpose of this forum being to discuss and share knowledge on strategic elements of Information Security with a view to better understanding: industry sector challenges, risk strategies and solutions. Knowledge sharing at this level will aid the implementation of best practice, risk reduction and better cost management. The level of membership for the group is important ensuring focus on strategic elements of information security. The meeting would be located at each members site in rotation (suggested frequency of one per quarter) and the OU will happily host the inaugural meeting.

If you would like to be involved, please contact James Hall (james.hall@open.ac.uk) who will I’m sure be pleased to progress this proposal further.
