Group Manager
Project Moonshot is a Janet-led initiative, in partnership with the GÉANT project and others, to develop a single unifying technology for extending the benefits of federated identity to a broad range of non-Web services, including Cloud infrastructures, High Performance Computing & Grid infrastructures and other commonly deployed services including mail, file store, remote access and instant messaging. The goal of the technology is to enable the management of access to a broad range of services and applications, using a single technology and infrastructure. This is expected to significantly improve the delivery of these services by providing users with a common single sign-on, for both internal and external services. Service providers will be able to more easily offer their services to users from other organisations using a single common authentication mechanism. This will enhance the user’s experience, and reduce costs for those organisations supporting users, and delivering services to them. This group is for community of Moonshot users, whether you're new to the technology, you're currently evaluating and getting to grips with it, or you've deployed it. For the list of guidance available about Moonshot within this group, see the Start Here wiki page. Jisc Assent, the production service underpinned by the Moonshot technology, went live on 25th March 2015. JANET Moonshot Technology Pilot Workshop - 11 & 12 October 2011

6 September 2013 at 5:06pm
Date:
Tuesday, October 11, 2011 - 12:00
Location:
University of Warwick
Description:

Videos of presentations from this workshop are now available from the links below.

Objective

The objective of the JANET Moonshot Technical Pilot workshop is to support the JANET community by providing delegates with an opportunity to learn about deploying and using the Moonshot technology. The workshop will focus on the use of the technology for authentication and authorisation to e-Research infrastructures and services.

The workshop will provide delegates with the knowledge necessary to participate in the JANET Moonshot Technical Pilot, including software installation and configuration. Delegates will be able to install and configure the software, and participate in a Campus deployment planning exercise to encourage consideration of other factors when deploying the technology and participating in the Technology Pilot.

Audience

The intended audience of this workshop are staff engaged in delivering and supporting Campus RADIUS and e-Research services and infrastructure, but delegates working in other disciplines are welcome to attend.

The workshop is intended for delegates affiliated with JANET-connected organisations. However we also welcome delegates from outside of this community (either within the UK or elsewhere) who are interested in attending. Unfortunately we will not be able to provide free accommodation to these delegates, although accommodation can be requested from the venue at registration.
