Hands-on Security Testing (Live Online Course)
Course Overview
Interested in improving your security knowledge looking for some hands on training with network scanning tools or simply looking where to start with Security Testing? Janet has a new online interactive course aimed directly at you.
The 'Hands on Security Testing' live online learning course covers the basics of Security Testing, from port scanning using the freely available nmap tool, through to vulnerability exploitation using the metasploit tool. The course is at a level that is suitable for those with little previous experience of Security Testing, but also includes some more technical information for delegates who would like to know some more about nmap options and metasploit usage.
The course focuses primarily on Infrastructure based security testing and does not cover web based application testing; therefore is suitable for those who are working in or responsible for an infrastructure area of business. It is less appropriate to a web developer or software author. Through a guided assessment following the course modules, participants will be given the opportunity to install and explore the nmap and metasploit tools. A link to videos and resources are included to provide additional support and guidance.
Topics Covered
The course will be delivered over six different days with live online sessions, as well as a short offline assignments. The live sessions will involve presentations, audio and interactive chat both as a whole class and in break-out groups. During the sessions you will have plenty of opportunities for discussion and communication with your peers. We encourage participation and hope that you will feel able to share your experiences and examples of best practice with the group.
The live sessions will be run in Adobe Connect, in order to access the sessions you will require a web browser running Adobe Flash and a headset (or speakers and a microphone).
Each session will start at 9.45am.
Enrolment for next online session ends on 30th April. Full details at:
