Fife and Tayside Region

We are currently in the process of implementing an improved model for the delivery of Janet services.  This will help to streamline network management, reduce duplication, and make cost efficiencies through shared resources. 

Activities to replace the dark fibre infrastructure and managed service connections for the FaTMAN regional network began last year.  We are now working with colleagues within the region to install new routing hardware to the new regional infrastructure, Fife & Tayside Regional Network (F&Tr).  This will enable regional network services to be transferred to the new network, to be operated directly by Janet. 

The configuration of the new core will take place between the 20th March and the 13th April. During the same period, we will be migrating the individual core connections from FaTMAN to F&Tr.

The final phase of the transition will involve each customer connection moving over to the new network. This work is planned to take place between the 16th April and the 1st of June 2012.
