I see another stong promotion of Office 365 with a passing mention of Google Apps. Are Microsoft spending more marketing budget on Janet than Google does?
Google Apps has been amazing for us, with so much more useful functionality than the MS offerrng and a much more comprehensible contract. It also works well on every kind of computer we have and with the 1000's on phones in our community.
Dear Andrew
Firstly, sorry for the delay in getting back to you but it is great to hear about your success with Google Apps. We’re currently nearing completion of negotiations with Google to produce a Janet Amended Google Apps Agreement for the benefit of the sector. This will bring cost saving benefits to the research and education sector, similar to that we have achieved with Microsoft Office 365, particularly relating to legal costs.
Many users of Microsoft Live@Edu were being migrated to Office 365 last summer and asked for our help urgently with the due diligence and contractual amends, so this was the first project to received our attention. We are now well on our way to completing our work with Google.
Both sets of negotiations are to benefit the Janet community so we do not receive a marketing budget from either company, and do not recommend to our customers the use of one product over another. Our objective is to provide an impartial service to our customers based on aggregated demand.
We would really like to hear more about your work with Google Apps, particularly any case study material you may have that demonstrates the benefits of moving to cloud email and applications, and should be grateful if you would agree to share this with us . Please could you email this to brokerage@ja.net for my attention?
Many thanks, and I hope to hear from you soon.
