Out and About (#2)
Following on from my blog post ‘Out and About #1’ earlier in the week, the past 2 days has seen yet more exciting activities taking place.
Yesterday (Wednesday) morning I paid a visit to our new Janet6 core PoP in Leeds. It’s located at a data centre hosted by aql – a company we already have a close relationship with due to IXLeeds connectivity and also the Janet 3G Service. As far as PoPs go this to me is an interesting one, the data centre is located within the shell of a Grade II listed church. The photos show the exterior of the building as well as the current shape of what was the main church hall.
Today (Thursday) I headed back to Janet HQ in Oxfordshire for the final meeting of the week, a triparty affair featuring Janet, SSET and Ciena. This is one of a series of meetings aimed at bringing together the 3 key parties involved in building Janet6 to pre-empt/address/deal with any relevant issues. Needless to say there are endless elements of the project that involve all 3 parties so we had plenty to talk about.
And there ends another busy week.
